The Vampires Bride Part ii

+ Show full styles

He climbed the mountain through the storm Where ancient towers pierced the sky Beyond the gates, beneath the stone The vampire lord had made his throne A thousand candles lined the halls And portraits watched him as he passed Pale faces sleeping behind glass The stolen souls of ages past Centuries of stolen years A kingdom built on blood and fear But somewhere in that haunted keep She was alive... She could not sleep Pale bride! Beneath the moon! He stole her life, he stole her youth! Bound by the ancient master's spell She lived within his frozen hell The knight raised high his bloodied blade For every life the monster claimed He found her dressed in silver white Her eyes were cold, devoid of light She did not know the man she saw Who once had loved her long before The vampire laughed from his throne "She belongs to me alone" The knight replied with burning eyes— "Then tonight, your kingdom dies." Steel met fang Fire met night The ancient lord Was born to die He drove his sword Into the heart And watched the centuries Tear apart The castle shook The shadows fled The ancient lord Lay finally dead The pale bride fell Into his arms And for the first time The spell was gone She looked into his eyes And somehow knew his name A faint smile crossed Her dying face "You came back..." "I promised." The vampire's dead, the curse is gone The stolen night gives way to dawn She found the light beyond the pain But he would lose her once again She smiled and whispered— "Thank you, friend." And closed her eyes As morning came The vampire took her youth... The war took his years... And now the grave had taken her. And still, beneath the oak, the knight mourned the girl he never stopped loving.
