We were running wild, living by our own design Chasing down the shadows, crossing every line Every heart a rebel, every soul in chains Thinking we were free, but we were bound by our stains. No one seeking righteousness, no one on the track Walking out in darkness, never looking back. Yeah, we were all outlaws living in the wild Running from the Father, an unreconciled child Trading true devotion for a temporary spark We were all outlaws... until He grabbed us from the dark! Yeah, He stepped into the canyon, He claimed us as His own The Outlaw's days are over, He is bringing us back home. We didn't choose the rescue, we didn't plan the grace We were hiding out in secret, couldn't look Him in the face But before the world's foundation, He already knew the plan To reach into the desert and redeem the fallen man. Not because of what we did, or who we claim to be But because He set His love on us to set the captive free. No man can just wander to the throne upon his own The Father has to pull him, break the heart of stone He intercepts the runner, He stops you in your tracks He puts His hand upon you, and you ain't going back. He calls you out by name, He opens up your eyes The old rebellion fades away, the outlaw nature dies. Now the boots are on a new path, the old road is left behind The Savior broke the blinders, gave sight to the blind We aren't running from the lawman, we are walking in His grace Following the Master, running in His race. The hands that once were stealing are lifted up in praise We're following the Shepherd for the rest of all our days. No longer on the run. The battle has been won. He grabbed this outlaw's heart. A brand new day to start. Yeah, the outlaw's days are over... We're following Him home.
