The earth is burning, community is crumbling, and we discuss how we look doing it. We call it freedom — but it is excess. We call it individuality — but it is selfishness. We call it progress — while we trample everything that doesn’t mirror our own beliefs. Everything screams: Me. My opinion. My truth. My stage. And whoever doesn’t applaud is an enemy. We applaud ourselves all the world falls apart We applaud ourselves mistaking noise for a heart We call it freedom but it’s hollow and cruel We don’t cross the line anymore —we erase the rule Whoever asks questions gets hatred Whoever doubts is dangerous We forgot what boundaries mean and call responsibility oppressive We demand acceptance for everything except reason We demand tolerance —but only for ourselves Under the banner of freedom we impose our wounds on the world Calling self-destruction courage Calling narcissism identity We applaud ourselves every lie gets a crown Every absurdity moralized every doubt shut down We measure our worth in clicks and likes And sell our silence for fleeting lights Empathy — an empty word Humanity — no longer an option Responsibility — a tiresome duty And while we celebrate ourselves the collective starves While we reinvent ourselves endlessly we forget what we should stand for While we demand the right to do anything we lose all direction Stop confusing freedom with ruthlessness Stop selling selfishness as a virtue Stop declaring yourselves the center of a world that would continue without you We won’t perish because we have too few rights We will perish because we no longer accept limits We stand on the ruins of this world and applaud ourselves.
