Midnight Double Feature

Late show. One screen. The haunted house lights are on. If you came to sit quietly, you are in the wrong row. Jack-o'-lantern on the marquee, rain on the glass Lab coat in the lobby, heels on the pass A witch took the aisle, a vampire took a date The usher tore the ticket with a grin that said wait Sax in the darkness, heels in the row Full moon through the projector, dust in the glow You bought a ticket, you stood for the reel Now the back row is up on its heels Palms on the armrests Toes in the aisle Forget the credits Stay for the style It's the midnight double feature Scream if you want, then dance It's the midnight double feature Thunder, lipstick, and a late-show trance Lean to the aisle, the ghost leans too Slide to the wall, the moon slides with you Clap for the flicker, clap for the scene This is the picture they buried at Halloween Velvet on the railing, fog on the floor A werewolf in a letterman says don't lock the door Candy stuck to the armrest, a mask on the seat The creature in row C is keeping the beat Not too sweet, not too clean A little mean in the projector beam If the film snaps, the piano doesn't care The castle keeps rolling like the aisle isn't there Chin to the screen Feet in the aisle The good part's coming So ruin your style It's the midnight double feature Scream if you want, then dance It's the midnight double feature Thunder, lipstick, and a late-show trance Lean to the aisle, the ghost leans too Slide to the wall, the moon slides with you Clap for the flicker, clap for the scene This is the picture they buried at Halloween Who brought the lipstick, the witch in the aisle Who's in the castle, everybody inside Nobody keeps to a chair when the reel runs thin The seats are all empty, the aisle is the scene It's the midnight double feature Louder than the rain It's the midnight double feature Run it again, run it again Lean to the aisle, the ghost leans too Slide to the wall, the moon slides with you Clap for the flicker, clap for the scene This is the picture They buried at Halloween [Outro] [Sax riff, piano stab, thunder, cut] [End]
