My inspiration for this track began as an observation of contrast. An observation during a recent walk I had through the brightly decorated city center, surrounded by group gatherings and people moving through familiar holiday rituals. At the same time these people were exchanging gifts and celebrating the festivities, there were elderly individuals sitting alone. Others, homeless, were trying to sleep on the sidewalks, exposed to the cold and largely ignored. Standing between those two realities, it hit me. And that contrast stayed with me. It made me think about how easy it is to move through the holidays, for those lucky enough to be surrounded by comfort, most often willingly being unaware of those spending the same nights outside, cold and/or alone. And my conclusion to this thought is pretty simple: Regardless of what the calendar of the herd says — Christmas, New Year’s Eve, or anything else — For some people...
