Dante's Inferno

[Verse 1] I crossed the gate alone Stone mouth, iron breath Names carved in the dark Like teeth around my neck A sign with no mercy Kept turning in the heat I heard the ground below me Say, "Come and take your seat" [Pre-Chorus] Step by step The air grew thin Every shadow knew my skin Step by step I heard them call Down, down, down [Chorus] Dante's Inferno I fell in slow Dante's Inferno Into the glow Dante's Inferno Say my name now Dante's Inferno I can't turn back [Verse 2] First came the greedy mouths With gold stuck to their tongues Then the liars in their masks And the cruel and jealous ones A river of old regrets Ran black beneath my feet Each face I tried to forget Kept waking up to speak [Pre-Chorus] Step by step The air grew thin Every shadow knew my skin Step by step I heard them call Down, down, down [Chorus] Dante's Inferno I fell in slow Dante's Inferno Into the glow Dante's Inferno Say my name now Dante's Inferno I can't turn back [Bridge] And if I reach the center What will answer me? A crown of ash, a broken prayer Or nothing left but me The floor is made of warning The walls are made of cries I lift my face to danger And stare it in the eyes [Final Chorus] Dante's Inferno I fell in slow Dante's Inferno Into the glow Dante's Inferno Say my name now Dante's Inferno I can't turn back
