Death Nesting - What The Darkness Gives

The sky don’t move, it just hangs low, a ceiling cracked with undertow. The walls breathe dust, the floor pulls down, the silence crawls beneath my skin. The nights are longer than the days, the hours rot, the colors fade. The fire’s gone from every vein, each breath is rust, each thought a chain. I stare at doors that never lead, to something more than loss and need. Show me a reason, if one remains, why I should keep crawling, through a life of blood and chains. Give me a reason, if one still lives, why I should not take what the darkness gives. The mirror shows a hollow face, a man unmoored, out of place. The eyes don’t shine, they only plead, a famine mouth with nothing to feed. I search for light, I scrape for sound, but nothing’s left to hold me down. I’ve called the night, I’ve cursed the dawn, I’ve begged for strength to carry on. But silence answers, cold and still, a grave that waits upon a nameless hill. Show me a reason, if one remains, why I should keep crawling, through a life of blood and chains. Give me a reason, if one still lives, why I should not take what the darkness gives. I need a reason, I need a will. But silence answers every plea, with nothing left, nothing but me. If there’s a reason, let it show, a shadow where the wild winds blow. But if it’s gone, then let me fall, into the dark that takes us all. Every breath I ache from my chest, feels like a lie, a slow rehearsal, I’m waiting to die.
