[Verse 1] Rain on the canopy Mud on your knees You came for the birds Now you count the trees Something up high Moves when you breathe Eight black shadows Sliding through the leaves [Pre-Chorus] Don’t look up Don’t run fast The web is waiting Stretching past Hear that hush? That’s your name Tied in silk Like a flame [Chorus] Vines on eight They take the trail They never wait Vines on eight Run if you want They find your shape [Verse 2] Broken branch Snap in the dark A red-eyed glint By the river bark They sit so still Then the air goes thin One drop falls And they all lunge in [Pre-Chorus] Don’t look up Don’t make sound The forest closes All around Hear that hush? That’s your name Tied in silk Like a flame [Chorus] Vines on eight They take the trail They never wait Vines on eight Run if you want They find your shape [Bridge] I saw one rise From the ferns Bigger than fear Bigger than burn Your torch went low Your breath went cold The whole green world Turned black and old [Final Chorus] Vines on eight They take the trail They never wait Vines on eight Run if you want They find your shape Vines on eight The rainforest feeds And closes late
