I walked into the water not to swim — to stop the city lights were drowning but I was already lost I saw her face in the surface she looked back but didn't speak I reached out — she faded like everything I couldn't keep Drowned in the noise Drowned in the silence Drowned in the things I never said Drowned in the love I couldn't save now I'm floating not alive — not dead just somewhere in between where the water meets the sky and I don't need to breathe anymore because I finally understand you can't drown if you were never meant to swim
