--- Right from the start this one grabbed my attention. I was playing with the word "Anxiety" and wanted to make it related to today's youth having so many pressures from the world and social elements. So changed it to Anxie-teen. Putting that in didn't work all that well though for the vocals, so I made it more phonetic. Was super happy with that slight pause on the line. Added some extra emphasis to it which I really liked. The "slow spot" in the song worked out much better than I expected too. So overall super happy with the results! Fits nicely with the previous "Ghost on the Line" song from the "album" too, which is a nice bonus. ~David --- [Musical Introduction] [Rapid notification pings → glitchy scroll sounds → heartbeat kick ramps up] [Verse 1 - Male Vocals - Ned – rapid-fire / spoken word] Scroll, scroll, double tap dopamine drip Headline says the world’s gonna end at six Skip—next clip—perfect lives in a loop Everybody’s winning and I’m stuck in a group Chat blows up, I don’t know what to say Type, delete, type, delete—anyway Did they mean that? Did I read that wrong? Overthink it ‘til the moment’s gone Algorithm knows me better than me Feeds me fear in high-def HD “Stay informed” but I’m stuck in a spin Every update pulls me further in [Pre-Chorus - tight, rising tension] Too much noise, too much light Too much future overnight If I stop, will I fall behind? If I breathe, do I lose my mind? [Chorus - group chant, frantic] Ann Sigh a teen, caught in between Who I am and who I’m seen Buzzing wires in my brain— Every thought’s a hurricane Ann Sigh a teen, can’t come clean Static in my self-esteem Try to scream but it won’t convene— Living life on a cracked screen [Verse 2 - Male Vocals - Spider + Ned interplay] [Male Vocals - Spider - grooved, rhythmic] Deadlines stack like unread texts Future’s knocking—what comes next? [Male Vocals - Ned (overlapping)] College, career, identity quiz “Where do you see yourself?” I don’t know, this? [Male Vocals - Spider] Compare, despair, refresh, repeat [Male Vocals - Ned] Everybody running but there’s no concrete [Male Vocals - Both] Ground to stand on, plan to lean— Just vibes and caffeine and a broken routine [Pre-Chorus] Too much choice, too much doubt Too many ways to burn out If I’m everything, I’m nothing defined… If I pause, am I left behind? [Chorus - bigger, more chaotic] Ann Sigh a teen, caught in between Who I was and what I mean Every ping’s a guillotine— Dropping on my self-esteem Ann Sigh a teen, unseen, seen Living in a highlight dream Try to wake but I stay in the scene— Frozen in the in-between [Musical Interlude] [Building a wall of rhythm from notification pings, vibration buzz, rapid hi-hats; Guitar slaps aggressively; added jagged guitar stabs; everything feels like it’s spiraling] [Bridge - Female Vocals – sudden calm, stripped] [everything drops to soft ambient + gentle chords] [Female Vocals] I turned it off… just for a minute The noise went quiet… I stayed in it [Female Vocals] No screen, no feed, no need to perform Just breath in my lungs… finally warm [Female Vocals] For a second, I felt okay Like I didn’t have to run today [soft pause] …then it buzzed [Breakdown → Final Build] [single vibration sound → heartbeat returns faster than before] [Final Chorus - all in, explosive] Ann Sigh a teen, breaking the seam Overflowing every dream Too aware of everything— Every loss and what it means Ann Sigh a teen, can’t stay clean From the flood inside the machine Try to fight, try to be serene— But I’m wired to the in-between 🎵 [Outro - frantic unravel → abrupt cut] Scroll—scroll—scroll— Stop [silence]
