Title - Just Walkin' The Path Year - 2006 Artist - SolFlo Ft. Genku ___________ The year 2006 saw the ground-breaking pairing of underground rapper SolFlo and legendary Japanese producer/DJ Genku. Inspired by his three-month trip to Japan, SolFlo co-produced and wrote the alternative hip-hop hit, "Just Walkin' The Path." The track's unique cultural fusion propelled it to massive success after it was featured as the theme song for the globally successful anime series, "Shōgun's Deceits." ___________ Sharp as the steel my mind is the blade Readin' the world in the patterns the shadows have made A hand's breadth from the edge my breath is the steam My mic is the handle the flow is the stream Seein' the drama unfold on the streets It's clan against clan or a shōgun's deceits No peace the path of the warrior's never neat The best-laid plans are the first to taste defeat I'm just a ronin with a focused plan An average dude who sees the sleight of hand It's the code in my thoughts that helps me understand How to flow like water cross the land Just walkin' the path like a leaf in the wind Lettin' the melody wash away the stain of the sin So I'm keepin' my balance the centre within Findin' my focus where the pavement and the sky begin Just walkin' the path like a leaf in the wind Lettin' my spirit rise above where the chaos has been So I'm keepin' my balance the centre within Findin' my focus where the pavement and the sky begin Takin' my chances my wordplay's a duel In this garden of stone just stayin' tranquil and cool Out here, deep in these canyons of steel and rain The sun beats down life's a beautiful pain Tryna be Hokusai when I spit the ink Paintin' new worlds with the way that I think The culture clash the high-tech and the old way They buildin' towers just to watch 'em all decay I walk the line a million miles of motion With the stillness of a single drop of rain in the ocean When the rhyme hits it lifts ya from the physical plane Takes you right back to the start, puts a thought in your brain And cats wonder why They might just wonder why This path is lonely But on this code, I rely Just walkin' the path like a leaf in the wind Lettin' the melody wash away the stain of the sin So I'm keepin' my balance the centre within Findin' my focus where the pavement and the sky begin Just walkin' the path like a leaf in the wind Lettin' my spirit rise above where the chaos has been So I'm keepin' my balance the centre within Findin' my focus where the pavement and the sky begin I walk with honor, that's the only key To unlock the true self let the mind just be It's the patience of the mountain the honor in the ground The wisdom that's found in the silence of the sound Livin' this life with the quiet it asks Channelin' essence past the smiles and the masks My ink runs deep like the proverbs of old A winter's story that deserves to be told The path never ends I keep it movin' like a mantra The first in my dojo to master the stanza The path is inward to that peaceful state I elevate It's all or nothin' in the moment I create I watch the cherry blossoms fall acceptin' my fate And find my centre right here inside the garden gate Just walkin' the path like a leaf in the wind... Lettin' the melody wash away the stain of the sin So I'm keepin' my balance the center within Findin' my focus where the pavement and the sky begin (Yeah... just walkin' the path) (Lettin' the rhythm) (Keepin' my balance) (Keepin' my balance) (Keepin' my balance)
