“Not a Candy Cane” (Remastered)

(Verse 1) It’s Christmas time, the snow is fallin’, Lights are strung, and bells are callin’. But there’s a thing I need to say, ’Cause some folks forget along the way. My white cane’s not a candy cane, It’s not for grabbin’, it’s not a game. I need it to get where I’m bound, It helps me move safely around. (Chorus) Oh, don’t take my cane, it’s not for you, It’s not a toy, no matter how new. It’s my lifeline in the snow and rain, So please remember, it’s not a candy cane. (Verse 2) I know you’re feelin’ Christmas cheer, And want to help when I appear. But if you grab it outta my hand, I’ll lose my way in this winter land. This cane’s my tool, it’s what I use, To find my path and spread good news. So let me be, just lend an ear, A little respect will spread good cheer. (Chorus) Oh, don’t take my cane, it’s not for you, It’s not a toy, no matter how new. It’s my lifeline in the snow and rain, So please remember, it’s not a candy cane. (Bridge) If you wanna show that Christmas care, A kind word or a smile, that’s fair. But don’t reach out and take control, I need my cane to get around this whole. (Chorus) Oh, don’t take my cane, it’s not for you, It’s not a toy, no matter how new. It’s my lifeline in the snow and rain, So please remember, it’s not a candy cane. (Outro) So this holiday, let’s all be kind, Respect the cane, and keep in mind: It’s not a game, it’s not for play, It helps me live, come Christmas Day.
