SURVIVED MY OWN PLOT [Intro — spoken] Funny thing about survival… sometimes the person you had to survive was yourself. I thought life was against me— whole time, God was trying to change me. [Verse 1] I was writing my own ending with a pen full of pride, Building walls around my heart just to sleep good at night, Had a map to destruction, called it “knowing the route,” Every warning looked like hate when I was figuring it out. I blamed the world for the weight that I carried inside, Never noticed I was the one keeping truth locked in a lie, Old me had a master plan, every move calculated, But God kept tearing pages out before I could make it. I thought every closed door meant the world wouldn’t let me in, Now I see some doors were locked to keep me from sin. I was fighting for a life that was killing my soul, Had to lose who I was just to take back control. [Hook] I survived my own plot, Made it through every version of me, Thought I needed the world to change, God said, “Let me change what you see.” I survived my own plot, Walked through the fire I designed, The enemy wasn’t always outside— Sometimes he looked like mine. [Verse 2] Old habits left fingerprints all over my history, Every scar got a chapter, every loss got a mystery, I chased temporary highs like forever was promised, While purpose stood outside the door saying, “You forgot me.” Had a heart full of questions, but I prayed through the static, Turned pain into poetry, now the struggle sounds cinematic, Funny how the darkest roads can lead you to light, When you finally stop arguing and surrender the fight. I ain’t saying I’m perfect, I’m saying I’m awake, There’s a difference between mistakes and the choices you make, Yesterday still whispers, but I don’t answer the call, I don’t hate who I was—I just don’t live there at all. [Hook] I survived my own plot, Made it through every version of me, Thought I needed the world to change, God said, “Let me change what you see.” I survived my own plot, Walked through the fire I designed, The enemy wasn’t always outside— Sometimes he looked like mine. [Verse 3] Now I’m looking in the mirror like, “We made it somehow,” Same face, different spirit, there’s a peace in me now, I used to ask God, “Why me?” when the pressure got heavy, Now I ask, “Why not me?” if He says that I’m ready. Every setback was a sentence I misunderstood, Every broken piece was placed where only God could, I thought I was losing chapters, He was editing the story, I was chasing validation, He was teaching me my glory. So if the old me knocks, tell him nobody’s home, I found purpose in the places I was scared to go alone, The plot had me defeated, but the Author rewrote, I thought I was fighting for my life— God was fighting for my soul. [Spoken Outro] I survived myself. That’s the part nobody talks about. Sometimes God doesn’t remove the enemy… He removes the version of you that kept inviting the enemy in. New chapter. Same scars. Different story.
