TRANSMISSION 05 — BICYCLE RIDE TO MACCOOZZIE

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Arrive quickly and the place has not finished being there.

This is not a superstition on RODARA's world. It is a measurement, taken repeatedly, by people who were disappointed enough times to write it down.

So RODARA goes slowly, on a single wheel, through a landscape that assembles itself at exactly the rate of approach — and has been going toward Maccoozzie for an extremely long time without ever once suspecting that the going might be the whole of it.

The directions are given freely and in enormous detail. Left at the third dry riverbed. Count the stones. RODARA does not ask whether anyone got there. Asked why not, RODARA looks mildly pained, as though the question were slightly coarse. The wheel keeps turning after the bow stops.

NOMAD rode at the front of the carpet the whole way, ears into the breeze, the first to reach every piece of road as it finished being there.

A destination nobody has confirmed, approached at the only speed that would make it real.
