FRANK 016 – The First Dawn | Frankenstein
(Verse 1) He woke without a memory beneath an unknown light, And opened wondering eyes upon the fading night. No voice had named his being, no hand had answered why, He raised his face in silence to the colours of the sky. (Verse 2) The wind became his teacher as he shivered in the cold, He searched among the forest for some shelter he could hold. Then hunger stirred within him with an unfamiliar need, And roots and scattered berries became his first crude feed. (Chorus) He entered life abandoned beneath the rising dawn, With every sight a mystery and every meaning drawn. He learned the ache of darkness, then marvelled at the fire, A trembling newborn giant awakened to desire. (Verse 3) The sun became too brilliant, and darkness brought him fear, Yet moonlight through the branches made distant shapes appear. He listened to the water and heard the woodland sing, And slowly learned the senses that consciousness could bring. (Verse 4) He found a flame abandoned that shimmered through the night, And stretched his frozen fingers towards its golden light. Its warmth became a wonder, a comfort he could learn, Until his hand drew closer and taught him how things burn. (Chorus) He entered life abandoned beneath the rising dawn, With every sight a mystery and every meaning drawn. He learned the ache of darkness, then marvelled at the fire, A trembling newborn giant awakened to desire. (Bridge) No father stood beside him to name the world he knew, No gentle voice instructed him in what was false or true. Through hunger, cold and wonder his understanding grew, While every lonely morning revealed the world anew. (Outro) The forest stretched before him beneath the paling skies, A universe of wonders unfolding to his eyes. He knew no hate or vengeance, no bitterness or blame, Only the first fragile wonder of warmth and light and flame.
