Borrowed Time

Verse 1 I wake up wearing someone else’s hours, sign my name where the days run thin, I trade my breath for quiet promises I never remember giving in. I know the rules, I play them well, learn which thoughts to keep polite, but there’s a voice I can’t outrun that gets louder every night. Pre-Chorus I keep saying “maybe someday” like time is something I own, but every day I don’t choose myself is a life I never get back home. Chorus I’m not where I’m meant to be, I feel it in the way I breathe, there’s a version of me still free somewhere I can almost reach. I don’t want more, I want what’s real, time that bends, time I can feel, if this is all I’m meant to be why does it feel like I’m wasting me? Verse 2 No one forced these walls around me, no locks, no guards, no closed doors here, just comfort dressed up as safety and habits wearing fear. I call it work, I call it living, call it “just the way things go”, but I keep staring at the exit sign like it’s someone I should know. Pre-Chorus No one kept me here but me, and that truth cuts clean and slow. Chorus I’m not where I’m meant to be, I hear it when the room goes still, there’s a version of me still free standing just outside my will. I don’t want more, I want what’s true, days I don’t have to live through, if this is all I’m meant to be why does freedom keep choosing me? Bridge If this is all there is, say it now, don’t dress the cage up as a dream, I don’t need comfort anymore, I need a reason to leave. Maybe nothing here is broken, maybe I just stayed too long, mistaking standing still for peace, and silence for belonging. Final Chorus I’m not where I’m meant to be, but I’m closer now than before, I feel the ground move under me like I’ve found a different door. I don’t need answers carved in stone, just the nerve to move alone, if freedom lives inside of me maybe that’s where I belong. Outro I take one step without a map, let the old clocks fall behind…
