[Verse] He called the crowd and made it clear No path of ease awaits us here To walk with Him a cost we meet Deny yourself and take His seat [Chorus] Take up your cross the road is steep The Savior’s call through shadows weep Follow the One who bore it all Through pain and love we heed His call [Verse 2] The weight is heavy yet so divine A burden held by hands entwined Through trials deep His grace will show In dying to self His life will grow [Bridge] The storm may rage the winds may roar But His strength lifts forevermore Surrender all lay burdens bare For in His light we find repair [Chorus] Take up your cross the road is steep The Savior’s call through shadows weep Follow the One who bore it all Through pain and love we heed His call [Verse 3] No crown lies here no golden shine Just sacrifice and love’s design The cross we bear though harsh it seems Will lead us home to endless dreams
