I found a paper lantern in a lost-and-found blue crayon rain on the window when the whole town drowned You said, “keep it by the door” like it meant something Now it’s hanging from a nail and it’s still not nothing If the sky turns black again I’m not running home I’ll stand right here with you and watch the thunder roam Paper lantern, paper lantern light me up, light me up Paper lantern, paper lantern flicker a little, still enough When the storm comes down we don’t fold, we stay Paper lantern, paper lantern keep the dark away Got wet shoes by the back step mud on the floor Your name on a shopping list stuck to the drawer We laughed at the sirens like they were songs And the whole block swayed to the rumble along If the sky turns black again I’m not running home I’ll stand right here with you and watch the thunder roam Paper lantern, paper lantern light me up, light me up Paper lantern, paper lantern flicker a little, still enough When the storm comes down we don’t fold, we stay Paper lantern, paper lantern keep the dark away Let it pour let it pour I can take a little more With your hand on my sleeve even broken, we believe Paper lantern, paper lantern light me up, light me up Paper lantern, paper lantern flicker a little, still enough When the storm comes down we don’t fold, we stay Paper lantern, paper lantern keep the dark away
