"Commandments of Grace III" (Verse 1) Ninth Commandment, don’t covet, it’s clear, Not my neighbor’s house or possessions near. Schemes and plots? Yo, they’re bound to fail, The law’s like a curb, it sets the rail. Stops the wayward, restrains my pride, Keeps sin in check, won’t let it slide. But more than restraint, His law’s a guide, Shaped by the gospel, my heart’s untied. Through Christ, I’m freed to help my neighbor stand, To guard what’s his with a gracious hand. No greed remains, ‘cause my debt’s erased, And in His provision, my soul’s embraced. (Hook) The law convicts, it curbs, it leads, But Christ fulfills all my deepest needs. The Ten Commandments – they point to His grace, And His gospel restores every broken place. (Verse 2) Tenth Commandment, don’t covet the rest – Your neighbor’s spouse or the things he’s blessed. Don’t force, don’t entice – keep it pure and clean, His law sets the guardrails unseen. But here’s the truth: I’ve crossed that line, Desired what’s not mine time after time. Yet the gospel guides – transforms my heart, In Christ’s perfect love, I’m set apart. Now I encourage, uplift, urge others to stay, Strengthened by His mercy, I walk His way. His Spirit leads me to reflect His light, A new creation walking in what’s right. (Bridge) The law’s like a mirror – shows every flaw, Reflects my sin, leaves me in awe. But it’s more than that – yeah, it curbs and corrects, Guides the redeemed in what God expects. Yet my hope’s not bound in the law’s demand, But in the pierced feet and nail-scarred hands. Christ bore the wrath my sin deserved, Now grace abounds, and my life’s preserved. (Hook) The law convicts, it curbs, it leads, But Christ fulfills all my deepest needs. The Ten Commandments – they point to His grace, And His gospel restores every broken place. (Verse 3 – Conclusion) God’s Word speaks truth: He’s a jealous King, Hates sin’s grip and the death it brings. He punishes sin, but His love runs wide, Through Christ, a thousand generations abide. Fear His anger, but don’t forget – The wrath I deserved, His Son has met. His promises hold, His blessings remain, Through faith in Jesus, I’m free from shame. Now I love and trust, His commands are my guide, Not a burden of guilt but a life sanctified. The law’s fulfilled, yet it still shapes me, A path for the gospel-changed heart to be free. (Outro) Mirror, curb, and guide – His law stands tall, But the gospel declares Christ’s done it all. Through His death and His life, I’m redeemed and blessed, And His commandments now led me to rest.
