------------ Note: ------------ The Weight of the Crown – Reign of Ashes III This is the third chapter of Reign of Ashes, a narrative series dedicated to remixing and reinterpreting existing songs (from Suno creators and beyond) through a gothic / doom metal lens. In this chapter, the voice shifts. This time, it is the King who speaks — not as a ruler of lands, but as someone who mistook closeness for ownership and desire for devotion. The Weight of the Crown explores how power can grow quietly inside intimacy, how love can be confused with control, and how a crown can be built not from gold — but from trust, silence, and fear left unspoken. This track is a remix built on an instrumental foundation subtly inspired by the work of a renowned classical composer. Update This piece draws on a discreet “air” inspired by J.S. Bach, whose baroque melodies remain among my personal favorites. The reference is intentionally understated, woven into the harmonic and melodic structure rather than quoted directly. The original source will be revealed here in the coming days. Until then… listen closely. ----------- Lyric ----------- I built my throne from whispered skin, From late-night vows I pulled you in. I called it love when I crossed the line, Mistook your closeness for something mine. Your silence warm against my chest, I wore it like a royal dress. I took your trust, your breath, your space, And called possession my saving grace. I read your body better than your fear, Knew when to pull you, knew you’d stay near. Every touch another quiet chain, Velvet words wrapped around the pain. They warned me once, I pulled you closer, Drowned their truth inside your shoulder. I didn’t need a crown or throne, When your pulse said I wasn’t alone. I mistook desire for devotion, Confused control with deep emotion. The higher I climbed, the less I could feel, Now every memory cuts like steel. The weight of the crown is crushing my skin, Built on your heartbeat, your giving in. I thought your warmth meant I was right, I ruled your body and called it light. If this is love when it feeds on fear, Then let it fall, I won’t reign here I see you now, not something to hold, Not heat to keep when nights turn cold. Not a flame I had the right to tame, Just a soul that burned inside my name. I won’t reach out, I won’t pull you back, I finally see the lines I cracked. If I walk now, it’s not to claim, It’s to face the fire without your flame. The weight of the crown is dragging me down, Every lie I told is screaming now. No banners left, no throne to defend, Just one last truth at the bitter end. If love means losing everything I claimed, Then let it burn, I won’t reign in your pain.
