Death Nesting - Why Do I Keep Walking
Morning comes grey, but it don’t mean a thing, No taste in the coffee, no song left to sing. Sun’s in the window, but it don’t touch my skin, I keep movin’ forward, but I’m wearin’ thin. Why do I keep walkin’ when the road’s all mud, Carryin’ a body that’s drained of blood. No light in the morning, no peace at night, I’m trudgin’ on, but I don’t know why. Smiles pass by like ghosts in a crowd, I hear them speak but it’s only loud. The days roll over like stones on a hill, I drag my own shadow but my heart stands still. Every hope decays, the days don’t begin, they just slip away. Why do I keep walkin’ when the road’s all mud, Carryin’ a body that’s drained of blood. No light in the morning, no peace at night, I’m trudgin’ on, but I don’t know why. There’s a weight in my boots, a fog in my chest, Heart like a casket that I drag alone. No horizon risin’, just sky turned black, I’m here in the flesh, but this soul ain’t mine. The little things crumble in the palm of my hand, What once felt like home is just dead land. Still I move onward, but my spirit’s dry, One foot in the grave and the other asks why. Why do I keep walkin’ when the road’s all mud, Carryin’ a body that’s drained of blood. No light in the morning, no peace at night, I’m trudgin’ on, but I don’t know why. Every day I rise… But I don’t know why.
