Joey Makes a Mess
[Intro - spoken] Joey’s dairy frozen department, six bells on the wall, Austin’s got a broom in hand—he’s heard the mop bucket call. [Verse 1] Joey rolls in smiling like a man with a plan, Then the milk goes sailing from the crook of his hand. Carton hits the floor and it’s a white little lake, Austin’s halfway sweeping when there’s more in its wake. He grabs that yellow bucket, grabs a towel, grabs a sign, But Joey’s left an egg trail winding down aisle nine. Shells go crackle-crunch beneath the wheels of a cart, Austin’s got a clean-up list and Joey’s got a fresh start. [Pre-Chorus] One swipe, two swipes, now the floor’s all clear— Joey says, “Hey, Austin, got a second over here?” [Chorus] Joey makes a mess, Austin makes it right, Mop in the morning, broomstick through the night. Spilled milk, busted eggs, something bubbling in a pan, Austin’s chasing Joey like a cleanup one-man band. Tags and tape, cardboard, stickers in a row— Austin can’t catch up, there’s always more to go! [Verse 2] Some days there’s a mystery fermenting in a tub, Making faces at the freezer and a smell that needs a sub. Joey says, “It’s probably fine,” and wanders out of sight, Austin’s reading labels with his gloves pulled extra tight. Price tags on the freezer, tape stuck to his shoe, Cardboard by the doorway and a sticker on his sleeve too. He peels one off his shoulder, finds another on his hat, Joey’s trail of little clues says, “You missed a spot right there, pal!” [Pre-Chorus] One swipe, two swipes, bucket’s almost dry— Joey’s got a new surprise and Austin’s asking why. [Chorus] Joey makes a mess, Austin makes it right, Mop in the morning, broomstick through the night. Spilled milk, busted eggs, something bubbling in a pan, Austin’s chasing Joey like a cleanup one-man band. Tags and tape, cardboard, stickers in a row— Austin can’t catch up, there’s always more to go! [Bridge - spoken, comic] Austin checks the clock. The clock checks back. Joey drops a carton. That’s another lap. “Sir, we need a sign.” “I put one right there!” Joey walks around it—milk everywhere. [Final Chorus] Joey makes a mess, Austin makes it right, Mop in the morning, broomstick through the night. Spilled milk, busted eggs, fermentation on the stand, Austin’s chasing Joey with a mop in either hand. Tags and tape, cardboard, stickers in a row— Austin can’t catch up, there’s always more to go! Austin can’t catch up, there’s always more to go! [Outro - spoken] Joey, freeze right there. Austin’s got the mop. Joey? Joey, don’t— …Aw, somebody grab the bucket.
