Crystal Shadows Fall

Intro] (whispered, crystalline echoes over distant waltz) There’s such a savage tempest Swirling in your mirrored gaze A crowned one turned to cinders In the twisting thorn maze I’ll spin the velvet midnight Till the false dawn loses name Return, my eclipsed sovereign Join the shadowed game… [Verse 1] You hurled lightning from our glass throne room Claws of flame, venom darts through velvet air Then frost claimed the realm, a glacial tomb You breathed cruel charms to shatter what we shared No spark endures, you hissed, no consort, no bond The spire lies frozen, empire ripped asunder Phantom torches swirled like will-o’-wisps beyond Yet I linger here, entwined in your thunder [Pre-Chorus] What forbidden glamour mends this fractured spell? (Whispers of dusk?) Or tears that never swell? (Storm or farewell?) [Chorus] Dance, lament dance Twirl through the ache Falling, falling down As our masquerade falls down Every illusion shattered Wasn’t enchantment after all But I’ll wait eternal for you-ou-ou As the crystal shadows fall down Falling Falling in glimmer Falling in flame As the masquerade falls down [Verse 2] Two fragile star-moths with wondering wings Clutch echoes of your vanished radiant gleam Dark courtiers crept near, murmuring poisoned things But light prevailed, no fetters, no grim dream You summoned iron scribes to slice our silken thread Parchments like curses to banish me afar Yet in the hush my pulse refuses dead I battle gloom to resurrect our star [Pre-Chorus] What ancient vow enchants your path back home? (Ashes and throne?) Or devotion etched in stone? (Forbidden? Alone?) [Chorus] Dance, lament dance Twirl through the ache Falling, falling down As our masquerade falls down Every illusion shattered Wasn’t enchantment after all But I’ll wait eternal for you-ou-ou As the crystal shadows fall down Falling Falling in glimmer Falling in flame As the masquerade falls down [Verse 3] My own form twists beneath a goblin curse Webs of thorn lace through marrow and vein A leaden diadem presses, heavy and perverse Yet I ascend each gloaming to chant your reign A cruel sprite devoured your inner blaze Left you hollow cavern, raging then so still But embers slumber deep in ashen haze Awaiting my call across the haunted hill [Verse 4] You sealed the gates of iridescent pearl Declared eternity a jester’s gilded lie Tiny moth-lights flutter in your whirl But love’s a maze we cannot truly deny I’ve traced the spirals, faced the beast inside My shadowed frailty a chain, yet still I climb To draw you from the vortex where you hide And watch our realm rekindle, sublime [Pre-Chorus] What sorcery turns obsidian night to dawn? (Pleas and song?) Or visions never gone? (Thunder or reprieve drawn?) [Chorus] Dance, lament dance Twirl through the ache Falling, falling down As our masquerade falls down Every illusion shattered Wasn’t enchantment after all But I’ll wait eternal for you-ou-ou As the crystal shadows fall down Falling Falling in glimmer Falling in flame As the masquerade falls down [Bridge] (slower, intimate, swelling to orchestral surge) Deep within you, deep within you The sovereign still breathes, I see Though the mask has splintered And the grand hall’s mystery Faded to coal and debris I’ll linger past the barricades Crystals gleaming in my palm Till the tempest’s venom fades And you stretch toward my calm No shackle, no decree, only open skies Return, my flame, before the glamour dies… [Verse 5] The moth-lights slumber wrapped in tales of our crown Their delicate wings still seek the warmth we knew My heart a fractured scepter, yet through the drown I weave this incantation to renew One cycle the gale shall weary, the void retreat You’ll glimpse the spiral path that leads to me For devotion’s sorcery runs deeper than defeat And no throne endures without its queen to be [Outro] (fading, hypnotic echoes, crystalline chimes) Falling Falling down As the crystal shadows fall down Falling Falling in glimmer Falling in flame As the masquerade falls down Falling… I’ll wait eternal for you-ou-ou As the masquerade falls down Falling… Return… Falling in flame As the masquerade falls down
