It’s the blueprint of a person, from the cell to the stride, A three-part journey with nowhere to hide. You’ve got to know the "Pre-conception" and the "Health of the Mother," Because one life is completely dependent on the other. It’s a mix of biology, safety, and the "Stages of Play," Making sure the foundation is solid for the rest of the way. Let’s start with Unit One, the "Planning" and the "Care," And the "Antenatal" choices that are waiting right there. You’ve got to know the Reproductive System, the male and the female, The "Ovulation" cycle and the biological detail. Then the Methods of Contraception, the "Barrier" and "Hormone," Knowing how each specific "Prevention" is known. Once the "Conception" happens, the "Lifestyle" must shift, To give the growing Embryo the ultimate gift. Now look at the Health of the Pregnant Woman, the "Dos" and the "Dont's," The "Nutritional" needs and the chemical "Wont's." The Folic Acid for the spine, the Iron for the blood, Avoiding the "Listeria" that can hide in the mud. Check the Antenatal Clinic—the "Scans" and the "Tests," Checking for the "Abnormal" and doing the best. From "Amniocentesis" to the "Blood Pressure" check, Keeping the "Pregnancy" from becoming a wreck. Now hit the Birth, the "Three Stages of Labour," A physiological feat that no woman would savour. Stage One is the "Dilation," the cervix opening wide, Stage Two is the "Delivery," the journey outside. Stage Three is the "Placenta," the "Afterbirth" flow, And the APGAR Score to see how the baby’s "in the know." Check the "Pulse," the "Reflexes," and the "Grimace" and "Tone," To make sure the "Newborn" isn't left all alone. Now the baby is home, and the Milestones begin, The "Developmental Norms" where the progress comes in. It’s the P-I-E-S again, but in a "Growth" point of view, The things that a child is expected to do. Can they "Grip" with their fingers? (That’s Fine Motor skill), Can they "Run" and "Jump"? (That’s Gross Motor will). Is their Language arriving? Are they "Babbling" or "Clear"? Are they building the "Bonding" with the ones they hold dear? Finally, look at the Play, the "Work" of the child, How the brain is structured and the "Impulses" are styled. From Manipulative play with the blocks and the clay, To Co-operative play at the end of the day. Is the environment "Safe"? Is it "Stimulating" too? Is it giving them the "Challenge" to see something new? Understand the "Theory," the Vygotsky and Bandura, On how "Social Learning" makes the future much surer.
