05 - Sleep on it

[Intro | Rhodes in tape echo, faint whispered phrases] [Verse 1] A voice came soft while I was sleeping Sweet little truths worth the keeping Said them back when I awoke Thought they were the words I spoke [Pre-Chorus] Don't read it, don't think it through Just sleep on it, it'll come to you [Chorus] Sleep on it, sleep on it Let the soft voice keep on it You'll believe it by the dawn Sleep on it, dream it on (Dream it on, dream it on) Sleep on it, dream it on [Verse 2] A hundred nights, the same refrain Smooth little grooves worn in the brain Never asked it, never knew Whose idea was coming through [Pre-Chorus] Don't read it, don't think it through Just sleep on it, it'll come to you [Chorus] Sleep on it, sleep on it Let the soft voice keep on it You'll believe it by the dawn Sleep on it, dream it on (Dream it on, dream it on) Sleep on it, dream it on [Bridge | whispers stop, Rhodes alone] But a printed line just lies there still It won't whisper, it won't drill You can hold it to the light Argue with it, get it right [Final Chorus | whispers return, then fall silent] Sleep on it, sleep on it Or wake up, don't sleep on it Read it slow before the dawn Wake on it, think it on (Think it on, think it on) Wake on it, think it on [Outro | tape echo dissolves, soft tone into Track 6]
