[Verse 1] [Tense pulsing synth] [Heavy slow foot-stomp beat] The horses at the post They’re off and running neck and neck Ev’ry one’s a nervous wreck The crowd begins to cheer But Barney’s getting sick He’s looking for his horse with a telescope The others look like lightning But Sparky looks like soap [Pre-Chorus] [Build up] [Snare roll] He’s got a dirty face, he’s a disgrace He’s never ready when they start the race The jockey’s got a pitchfork, trying to make him go And Barney’s in the bleachers yelling loud and low [Drop] [Chorus] [Explosive wall of sound] [Distorted guitars] [Shouted vocals] Come on you Spark Plug! (Hey!) Come on you Spark Plug! (Hey!) You’ve got a half a mile to go! Don’t let them think that you’re a mule Don’t make a package out of Barney Google! Run like a chicken! Give ’em a lickin’! Show ’em the way to the track! Oh, Sparky, use your feet Don’t let them put you back into the street! Come on you Spark Plug Barney’s got his last two dollars on your back! [Verse 2] [Beat drops out] [Gritty rhythmic whisper] The race is nearly done The champion is out ahead Barney wishes he was dead Old Sparky’s standing still, he’s looking at a fly He stopped to get a hot dog as the rest went by The crowd is going crazy, the flags begin to wave Old Barney’s got one foot inside a pauper’s grave [Pre-Chorus] [Build up] [Heavy choir backing vocals] The jockey’s losing patience, he’s yelling for a whip While Sparky’s taking time to have a little sip! [Drop] [Chorus] [Massive explosion] [Stomping arena beat] Come on you Spark Plug! [Outro] [Heavy guitar riff] [Vocals fading out with echo] His last two dollars... On your back... Spark Plug... Go! [Big final drum hit] [Fade out]
