Their hands were bound and their mouths gagged, though in truth it changed very little. Even if they had been free to speak, none of them understood a single word of the language spoken by their captors. The cold seemed endless. Ice-covered plains stretched beneath a pale sky, while the wind swept across the frozen wilderness with relentless determination. More than once Helena thought she saw settlements in the distance, only to discover they were nothing more than rocky formations distorted by snow and light. Then, after what felt like an entire day of marching, the landscape changed. Columns of smoke appeared on the horizon. Slowly, they revealed a vast settlement nestled between snow-covered volcanic hills. Helena stared in astonishment. This was no simple village. Dozens of longhouses with turf-covered roofs formed an organized settlement around an enormous central hall. Wooden walkways connected several buildings. Beyond them stood fenced enclosures filled with sturdy sheep and thick-maned horses. Life thrived despite the cold. Women smoked fish beneath wooden shelters. Blacksmiths worked glowing forges. Children chased dogs between the houses, their laughter carrying through the icy air. Even the elders remained busy, repairing nets or carving wood beside walls of turf and stone. Everything felt both familiar and foreign. These people were unmistakably Norse. Yet their clothing, their tattoos and even their manner of speaking belonged to a world slightly different from the one they knew. As they were escorted toward the great hall, a voice suddenly rose above the crowd. A familiar voice. The three prisoners immediately looked up. A young man was pushing through the gathering villagers while speaking rapidly in the local tongue. Helena's heart skipped a beat. "Bruno..." He approached the warriors and exchanged a few words with them. Moments later, the gags were removed. Without hesitation, Helena rushed forward and threw her arms around him. "By the gods... you're alive." Bruno laughed. "So are you, apparently." Before they could continue, several warriors stepped between them and gently pulled them apart. Helena shot them an irritated look while Bruno immediately raised his hands. "It's alright. Let them be." Even without understanding the language, Helena recognized from his gestures that he had just spoken to them. Min stared at him with wide eyes. "Bruno," Helena asked, "why are they listening to you? And since when do you speak their language?" Bruno exchanged a few more words with the villagers before turning back with a smile. "Come. You're freezing." His gaze shifted toward Min. "Come, Mother. I'm happy to see you too. I was afraid I'd never find you again." They followed him into the great hall. Despite its immense size, the interior felt warm and welcoming. A massive hearth burned at the center of the room. Smoke drifted upward through an opening in the roof while long wooden tables surrounded the fire. Johannes and Min sat on either side of Bruno. Helena settled across from him. When everyone had grown quiet, Bruno began his story. "After the storm, I tried to find all of you. I walked for days without knowing where I was going. I survived on whatever I could find." Min gently ran a hand through his hair. Bruno smiled at her before continuing. "Then they found me. At first they captured me, just as they captured you. But something strange happened." He paused. "They spoke a dialect I had never heard before... and somehow I understood every word." Silence settled around the table. "And they understood me as well." Helena frowned. "You mean you learned their language in a few days?" "No. That's exactly what makes no sense." Bruno slowly shook his head. "They believe I'm a god. Or at least a messenger of the gods." A faint smile appeared on Johannes' face. "And what if they're not entirely wrong?" Bruno laughed. "Considering everything that's happened lately, almost anything seems possible." His eyes moved toward Min. "I see strange things around you, Mother. Around Johannes too." He hesitated. "So why should I be the only one who hasn't changed?" Min gently squeezed his hand. "I've always known you were someone special." Bruno grinned. "That's what every mother says." This time Helena couldn't help laughing. "The important thing is that you're alive." Her expression soon became more serious. "Have you heard anything about the others?" Bruno shook his head. "No. But I've asked several warriors to search for them. They know what our companions look like. If they're somewhere on this land, we'll find them eventually." Johannes finally spoke, his voice low and grave. "We didn't arrive here by accident. That storm wasn't natural." Everyone turned toward him. "JΓΆrmungandr created it." The hall fell silent. "How do you know that?" Bruno asked. Before Johannes could answer, Helena intervened. "We weren't finished with that discussion anyway." Her eyes briefly met Bruno's before she looked away. "And finding Yggdrasil remains our priority." Min seemed relieved that Helena chose not to reveal anything else. "To find Yggdrasil, we need to find the Queen. SkΓΆrta is the only one who can guide us." Bruno thought for a few moments. Then a mysterious smile appeared on his face. "Maybe not." Everyone looked at him. "I've spent a lot of time talking with these people." He leaned slightly forward. "And I think there's someone here who might be able to help us." ππ€ππ€ππ€ππ€ππ€ππ€ππ€ The sea had swallowed every sound And left me alone with the snow I walked where no footprints remained For days beneath a sky that never seemed to end The cold became part of my bones The wind knew my name too well I feared I would vanish unseen Like driftwood forgotten upon a frozen shore Yet still I carried their faces Like embers hidden in ash Iceland's Call Across the frost, I heard it rise Iceland's Call Like distant fire beneath the ice I thought the gods had left me here Yet every step became a sign Iceland's Call And slowly this land answered mine Then strangers gathered from the snow With wary eyes and silent hands Their words were foreign to my ears Yet somehow every meaning opened like a gate I answered without knowing how As if the language waited there Their stories felt strangely familiar Like memories borrowed from another life The old songs lived in their voices And echoed somewhere inside me Iceland's Call Across the frost, I heard it rise Iceland's Call Like distant fire beneath the ice They saw a messenger in me A bridge between the earth and sky Iceland's Call And I no longer asked them why I came here fearing only death Yet found a hearth beyond the storm These people welcomed what I was Before I even understood it myself Perhaps the gods had guided me here Or perhaps this land simply knew my name [C3] Iceland's Call Across the frost, I heard it rise Iceland's Call Like distant fire beneath the ice I found my family once again And still this frozen land remains Iceland's Call Forever running through my veins [C3 repeat] Iceland's Call...
