[Verse 1] The opposite of truth Can sound so clean A polished lie In a holy sheen Mercy in one hand Ruin in the other The room goes cold When they call it brother [Pre-Chorus] Everything sharp Gets sold as care The cheap old tricks Hang in the air [Chorus] This is the best kind The worst kind too Free for the heart Too costly for you This is the best kind Turn it inside out What they sell as gold Turns to dust in your mouth [Verse 2] Medicine climbs For the ones who need it The shelves get bare While the strong ones seed it Cheap things hidden In a velvet shell Expensive masks That know their spell [Pre-Chorus] The worse the hand The sweeter the words A pretty mouth Can cut like a bird [Chorus] This is the best kind The worst kind too Free for the heart Too costly for you This is the best kind Turn it inside out What they sell as gold Turns to dust in your mouth [Bridge] A sacred dark With no stars above A house of want Dressed up as love No touch, no cure No clean reply Just belly-lint truths And smoke in the eye [Final Chorus] This is the best kind The worst kind too Free for the heart Too costly for you This is the best kind Say it, then bow What they sell as gold Turns to dust right now This is the best kind This is the best kind This is the best kind
