[Verse 1] Hey hey Benny, what you tryin’ to do? Walkin’ down Main Street with one red shoe, Snappin’ your fingers, singin’ off key, But every girl’s laughin’ “He’s lookin’ at me!” [Chorus] Benny’s got that beat (ba-bop-a-woo!) Moves like a cat on heat (ba-bop-a-woo!) Jukebox jumpin’, lights all glow, When Benny hits the floor go, man, go! [Verse 2] Police say “boy, you’re stirrin’ up noise,” He says “sorry sir, that’s rhythm, not toys,” Grabs a broomstick, starts his spin, Crowd shouts “Benny! Let the show begin!” [Chorus] Benny’s got that beat (ba-bop-a-woo!) Moves like a cat on heat (ba-bop-a-woo!) Shoes on fire, hat all low, When Benny hits the floor go, man, go! [Bridge – Spoken like The Coasters] “Now Benny, you better slow down!” “Can’t, mama, the town’s too small for my sound!” “Well, you’ll end up dancin’ right through the floor!” “Then I’ll boogie in the basement, and come back for more!” [Final Chorus] Benny’s beat parade (ba-bop-a-woo!) Rockin’ every block he played (ba-bop-a-woo!) He don’t fight, he don’t run, He just wins with rhythm and fun!
