Verse 1) We walk the same pavement, under the same sky But sometimes we’re experts at just passing by I see you as a stranger, you see me as a ghost But we’re all one family here, from coast to coast So let’s open the circle, let’s widen the gate There’s no room for coldness, no reason to wait To love one another, to care like a friend Is a beautiful circle that never should end. (Chorus) So keep the door open, keep your heart open wide You never know who might be standing outside For some have sat down at a table for two And found that an angel was looking at you Yes, be careful and kind in the things that you do You might meet an angel in plain, simple view. (Verse 2) There’s a man on the corner with a cardboard sign His eyes meet the ground at the end of the line He’s asking for mercy, he’s asking for change To most of the world, he’s a face that is strange But he’s somebody’s son, he’s a soul with a name In the eyes of the Father, we’re one and the same So reach in your pocket, or just give a smile And walk with your brother for more than a mile. (Verse 3) An old woman stands where the light’s turning red With a heavy-set heart and a lot on her head The world moves too fast, and the traffic is loud She’s feeling so small in the rush of the crowd So offer an arm, let her lean on your strength Go out of your way, go the extra full length For when we are helping the least of these souls We’re filling the gaps and we’re making things whole. (Bridge) Remember the ones who are locked in a cell As if you were bound in that darkness as well And those who are hurting, mistreated, and low For we’re all in one body wherever we go. (Chorus) So keep the door open, keep the heart open wide You never know who might be standing outside For some have sat down at a table for two And found that an angel was looking at you Yes, be careful and kind in the things that you do You might meet an angel in plain, simple view. (Outro) So, keep your heart open, and your spirit be true There might be an Angel waiting for you, To do what is right, outside in plain sight Because the Lord up in heaven, will give His delight Yes, there is an Angel waiting for you…
