(Verse 1) The dust is settin' down on the road to the gate He told us to sit right here and wait Don't pack up your bags, don't rush for the door There’s somethin' much greater in store He gathered us close, breathed peace in the room Lifted our eyes from the sorrow and gloom And He said, "Keep your hearts where the promise is bound Right here in the heart of this ancient town." (Chorus) 'Cause John only washed with the water from the stream A sign in the desert, a hopeful dream But a fire is comin', a power untold To wrap up your spirit in garments of gold Just a few more days, just a little more faith Wait for the gift that the Father gave Oh, wait for the Spirit to fall like rain Washin' away every shadow and chain. (Verse 2) We’re watchin' the sky where He vanished from sight Holdin' each other through the long, quiet night Rememberin' the words that He left on our mind Leavin' our pride and our worries behind We came up from Jordan, but this goes so deep A promise He swore that He’s ready to keep Not by our might, and not by our hand We’re waitin' right here at the edge of the land. (Chorus) 'Cause John only washed with the water from the stream A sign in the desert, a hopeful dream But a fire is comin', a power untold To wrap up your spirit in garments of gold Just a few more days, just a little more faith Wait for the gift that the Father gave Oh, wait for the Spirit to fall like rain Washin' away every shadow and chain. (Bridge) Are you waitin' for the promise? Are you waitin' for the spark? He said the light is breakin' Right through the middle of the dark! No, you ain't on your own, no, you won't be alone When the Father sends down what He promised to own! (Guitar Solo / Instrumental Break) (Chorus) 'Cause John only washed with the water from the stream A sign in the desert, a hopeful dream But a fire is comin', a power untold To wrap up your spirit in garments of gold Just a few more days, just a little more faith Wait for the gift that the Father gave Oh, wait for the Spirit to fall like rain Washin' away every shadow and chain. (Outro) Just wait... Keep your eyes on the door. He's comin' with power. He's comin' with fire. Not with water... With the Holy Ghost. Just wait right here. Amen.
