[Intro - cello plus gentle piano pad] [Verse 1 - hushed, close vocal] The day is done, the weight I carried, Every worry, every load I bore, I lay it down before You, Jesus, You are the One my heart waits for. [Chorus - warm, slightly fuller, strings enter softly] So I rest, I rest in Your hands tonight, Every fear released into Your light, You never sleep, You never slumber, I can close my eyes — You'll hold the number Of every hair, of every breath I take, I rest, I rest in Jesus till I wake. [Verse 2 - back to hushed, sparse] Cast my cares, for You are caring, Peace that guards my heart and mind, Come to Me, You said, the weary, Rest for souls who seek and find. [Chorus - full warmth, strings and pad swell gently] So I rest, I rest in Your hands tonight, Every fear released into Your light, You never sleep, You never slumber, I can close my eyes — You'll hold the number Of every hair, of every breath I take, I rest, I rest in Jesus till I wake. [Bridge - whispered, almost spoken, strings sustain underneath] No storm too wide, no night too deep, You watch the ones You love in sleep, Safe and steady, held, secure, Your faithful hands, forever sure. [Final Chorus - softest, fading, vocal almost a whisper by the end] I rest, I rest in Jesus till I wake... [Outro - instrumental fade, piano and strings only, decay to silence]
