(Verse 1) Under the stairs, I hear them breathe, Scales and fire behind the concrete. They guard my dreams, they guard my sleep, The basement’s where the dragons creep. (Chorus) Dragons in the basement, Rattling the chains, Dragons in the basement, Calling out my name. (Verse 2) They scrape their claws on the furnace walls, They roar so loud but no one calls. At night they whisper in voices low, Telling me secrets I shouldn’t know. (Chorus) Dragons in the basement, Rattling the chains, Dragons in the basement, Calling out my name. (Bridge) I feed them sparks, I feed them song, They’ve been with me all along. I fear their fire, I love their flame, The dragons and I are one and the same. (Outro) Dragons in the basement, Forever they’ll stay, Dragons in the basement, I can’t look away.
