Come, children, listen close to me, I’ll teach you fear of God most high. Who longs for life, for days of peace? Then guard your tongue, speak no deceit. Turn from evil, do what’s right, Seek the Lord with all your might. For when the righteous cry in pain, He hears their voice and breaks their chain. The Lord is near to those distressed, He saves the crushed, the soul oppressed. Though troubles press on every side, His angels camp where saints abide. O taste and see, the Lord is good! Blest are those who trust Him should. The lions roar, yet lack their fill, But those who seek want no good still. The Lord redeems His servants true, No shame shall touch the ones who do. He shelters those who fear His name, And calls them His, unbound by shame. So lift His praise with endless voice, Let all who hear His name rejoice! For God has heard the humble cry, And lifts them up to dwell on high.
