The Right Path

[instrumental - guitars] I walk a path worn smooth by tears and years A ledge; a wall of granite and stone Narrow and dangerous, lest I make a misstep and fall I’ve walked this path before Friends and lovers have walked with me Sharing the risk; Keeping each other safe How I fear the day when I walk the path alone I understand the poet’s use of metaphors The road not taken; the choices we make Stopping by the wood; longing to be young again For me the metaphor is a path along a ledge Life offers alternatives; different paths; forks in the road Choices with risks that are not always clear Sometimes the path I’ve chosen was intentional Others, accidents and mistakes Choices I regret, My choices are fewer now The path straighter and safer, because I’ve learned from my mistakes, and The end is closer, not yet in sight I walk with confidence, knowing The path I've chosen was right The path is right
