[Intro] (Grand Piano, soft Strings, distant Native American Flute.) Morning cycle starts again, A little green beneath the light, I check the trays and write it down— Another leaf survived the night. Water, temperature, nutrients, Measured one by one, Funny how a tiny stem Can make this place feel less undone. [Verse 1] (Male Tenor, Piano, light Guitar.) I take the rover past the ridge, Turn the panels toward the sun, Check the charge, record the readings— Routine work until it’s done. Back inside, the pod seals tight, Oxygen settles into green, Storm warning means I stay locked in Till the surface clears again. Retro handheld in my hands, Mario on the tiny screen, Speaker muted, buttons clicking While the systems run for me. Protein bars beside the log, Freeze-dried meals packed away, Everything looks almost normal... Until I call the station. [Pre-Chorus] (Strings rise, light Parade Drums.) “Rover to Space Station, do you copy?” Static cracks across the line. I switch to Channel Zero-Six— A faint voice breaks through... Then dies. [Chorus] (Full Strings, Piano, Cinematic Kicks.) Trying to communicate, Sending something through the dark, Every signal leaves the rover Like a tiny fading spark. Trying to communicate, Earth is glowing blue and bright, I can see an entire world... But I can’t reach it tonight. [Verse 2] (Piano, Cello, light Guitar.) Backup transmitter, emergency band, Turn the dish and try again, One gives nothing, one gives noise— Then something sounds like a voice. I stop the log. Replay the line. There was someone there this time. [Signal Breakdown] (Piano and Cello nearly alone.) Back inside the pod again, Oxygen settles into green, The retro handheld lies beside me, Its little screen gone dim. I pull the old transmission in, Patch the dish through older lines, Cut the static, slow it down... “Bro...” I play it twice. “Bro... do you copy?” [Bridge] (Native American Flute, rising Strings.) That voice takes me years behind, Before the suits and warning lights, Before the missions and the distance, When home was never out of sight. I know that voice. I know that tone. Someone from a life That still feels like home. [Chorus] (Full Orchestra.) Trying to communicate, Now the silence feels different somehow, Someone reached across the distance... And I know they’re out there now. Trying to communicate, I pull the microphone in close, My hand is shaking on the switch... But this time I’m not alone. [Orchestra at Peaks] (Full Strings, Piano, Parade Drums, Cinematic Kicks, Electric Guitar Plucking and Native American Flute. Music only.) [Final Build] I check the dish, I check the line, One weak pulse begins to climb. I clear the noise, Open the channel— Something answers from the other side. [Outro] (Piano and unresolved Strings.) “Bro... do you copy?” I press transmit—“I copy...” Static rips through the line. Then his voice— “Bro... listen to me. Don’t trust the—” A warning light flashes. (The orchestra cuts.) [ABRUPT END]
