Being the Youngest Everyone thinks you are lucky, Mommy spoiled you the worst. You were her last They all say it's hard being first. When you arrived, it was all new. If your family was bigger, You might have landed in the middle. No one analyzed your every move; You had cover, there is no riddle. Parents do the best they can You did not come with instructions. They tried to teach you right and wrong, No matter your smile and other seductions. I am not going to complain About the hand-me-downs. It was nice that you broke in my shoes, But they never fit, and I looked like a clown. If that was the worst, I would not be preaching. Those things are just life Whining about that is purely reaching. Don't you wish you were the youngest? Wouldn't that have been best? This is what people should consider You got their attention when they were young. They were full of energy and dreams There was no accomplishment unsung. As we get older, the true price shows. Passing time shows who is the victim You experience your parents at the twilight of their lives, And your siblings are an early warning system. What will I look like two years out? How's your back six years ahead? Are you starting to forget things? Just eight years from now, the dread. Old family friends start to disappear, Aunts and uncles say their final goodbyes. You lose a parent when you are younger It hurts, and all you can ask is why. Don't you wish you were the youngest? Wouldn't that have been best? So, I might have received an extra toy, Yeah, maybe they were too worn out to discipline. But once time starts taking its toll around you, You soon realize the cost is not worth the win.
