Canto Ultima - "Sleipnir"

On a cold night somewhere on Bizet Station, Sleipnir Svadilfarisdottir was contemplating the end of her life. Serving in the Prog Wars, she nearly died when a swarm of the insectoids crashed her fighter and subsequently tried to devour her. Through the ‘miracles’ of modern science, she was spared death only to live as a husk—a woman with more machine parts than organic. Even her mind was completely synthetic, converted to a processor as a last ditch effort to fight rampant PTSD. And yet there she was, desperate for the end and yet too cowardly to jump, when a voice called to her. She turned to see a strange synth in a white hooded cloak, smiling at her. “Come to me, my child.” ================================================== [Sleipnir] They called me a hero, Showered with praise. I lost my eyes, an arm, And both of my legs. I am a monster; Flesh and machine. Nothing to live for, nothing inside of me. What is a life without a soul? There is no comfort, there is no hope... [Stranger] Come to me my child, Shelter in my arms. There's no need to fear. I will be right here And lead you to the dawn. It cannot end this way. I know you're filled with dismay That crawls inside your mind. You've come so far. Let's make a brand new start. I will lead you to the light. [Sleipnir] Who are you stranger Cloaked in white? How did you find me Alone in the night? [Stranger] Every moment Has led you here. I am the Testament, Have no fear. [Testament] Come to me my child, Shelter in my arms. There's no need to fear. I will be right here And lead you to the dawn. It cannot end this way. I know you're filled with dismay That crawls inside your mind. You've come so far. Let's make a brand new start. I will lead you to the light.
