The Search

[Intro] "I've spent my whole life waiting for answers..." "Maybe..." "Answers don't wait..." "Maybe they're found." [Verse 1] Packed up my fears, left the doubts in the hall. Couldn't keep waiting for a voice to call. Caught the first train with no place in mind. Just hoping my feet knew more than my mind. Every stop felt like I'd been there before. Every platform felt familiar somehow. People came and went, but I stayed in place. Like I was waiting on more than a train. The city kept breathing, I followed its sound. Every wrong turn somehow spun me around. Street signs changed but the feeling stayed. Like every road had already been paved. Then one name caught my eye... Eastgate. Didn't know why... But I got off there. [Hook] Every step gets a little more clear. Even when the answer never appears. I don't know where... I don't know why... I just know... Something's waiting tonight. [Verse 2] Walked through the station, a man rushed by. Nearly dropped a photograph as he passed my side. I reached to call him, but he disappeared. Like the crowd swallowed him before he could hear. Folded the picture, slipped it in my coat. Couldn't explain why I refused to let go. Passed an old man, he just nodded once. Like he'd seen this moment more than once. Caught my reflection in a shop front glass. Stopped for a second as people walked past. Didn't recognize what looked back at me. Like the mirror was showing more than it should see. Rows of lockers lined the hallway wall. Something said stop... But I walked on. [Hook] Every step gets a little more clear. Even when the answer never appears. I don't know where... I don't know why... I just know... Something's waiting tonight. [Verse 3] The phone kept ringing somewhere nearby. Nobody answered no matter how many times. That sound kept following wherever I turned. Like it carried a lesson I still hadn't learned. I searched my pockets, found nothing at all. Still I could swear it was meant for my call. The old man appeared at the end of the lane. Smiled... then vanished into the rain. Every clue circled back to one place. Every road somehow ended the same. Eastgate wasn't somewhere I chose to be. It felt like Eastgate had chosen me. Then the crowd stood still... So did I. A few metres away... Someone else... Stopped walking. [Bridge] The station... The photograph... The mirror... The lockers... The old man... The phone... Eastgate... None of them were the answer. They were leading me... To it. [Outro] She slowly turns. Before she can see the face...
