Shadowed Sanctuary

[Verse 1] You stood upon the mountain top A shadow cast across my life But within that shadow I found safety A feeling of peace amongst my strife [Verse 2] I was shielded From all the pain While your darkness stood guard Even through tears like rain At times the love felt distant But it could be summoned In an instant [Chorus] Shadow You are my sanctuary You hide the chaos Keep it buried Oh shadow My gentle shield In your darkness The truth revealed [Verse 3] When I was young I was scared Of both the shadow and the glare But in your shade I learned to grow A softer light A quiet glow [Bridge] Not all light is kind Not all dark is cruel The brightest sun can burn a fool But in your shade I found my way A place to rest A place to stay [Chorus] Shadow You are my sanctuary You hide the chaos Keep it buried Oh shadow My gentle shield In your darkness The truth revealed
