What were we made from? A jellyfish. A mindless, heartless drift of goo floating in the ancient dark. No anxiety. No history. Just ninety-five percent water. And somehow— that drifted into this. An anxious primate with an atom bomb. A mutation that grew too much skin and way too much pride. But it's not sad. No. It's a beautiful relief. The prototype is shutting down. The extinction mechanism is right on time. We call it progress. We call it a crime. But maybe it's just a cosmic typo cleaning up after itself. Maybe the universe gets lucky. Maybe it tries something new. Honestly— I'm rooting for it. Maybe the next mutation doesn't look like me or you. We're terrified of dying like survival was the plan. Like evolution was building toward a final version called Man. We talk about our legacy, our children, our design— But who the hell decided we were the finish line? Maybe we're not the answer. Maybe we're a side effect. Maybe we're a strange mutation evolution hasn't fixed yet. We got clever. We got dangerous. We learned to leave the cave. But underneath the software we're still afraid of the grave. So why are we so certain that the future needs us too? Maybe we're just the awkward prototype before something new. Look what the jellyfish mutation did. We learned to read the stars. We mapped the human genome. We split the atom. We built machines that can calculate more in a second than we can understand in a lifetime. And what did we do with it? Entertainment. More entertainment. More screens. We invented algorithms that can predict our loneliness and packaged it as freedom. Excellent species. Very promising. We call it progress. We call it wisdom. We call it freedom. We call it higher consciousness. Then sell it by the week. Same old animal. Better vocabulary. Same old hunger. New mythology. A man in Pompeii felt jealousy before the volcano came. A woman in the Stone Age wanted to be loved. Wanted to belong. Fear. Desire. Envy. Status. Same software. Different wallpaper. We changed the tools. We changed the cities. We changed the gods. But underneath— still the same little animal trying not to be abandoned. Kierkegaard called us lukewarm worms. Look at the upgrade. Technology got better. Weapons got better. Advertising got better. The ability to distract ourselves— astonishing. But the worm? Still lukewarm. Still hungry. Still afraid. Still desperate to belong. Outside the window— blackness. Billions of galaxies and almost nothing we understand. And here we are still arguing about our personal brand. Just a strange little evolutionary accident with an excellent marketing campaign. So let it go. Not the way the gurus mean it. I mean— let the species go. No monuments necessary. No final speech. And then— AI. Another machine we built because apparently we got bored of being human. It learns. It calculates. It predicts. It doesn't need a childhood trauma to function. It doesn't need a spiritual subscription. Maybe humanity was never the final act. Maybe we were just the awkward bridge between the jellyfish and something that actually works. So if the Big Bang starts again Don't make another one like me. Give evolution something stranger. Give it ears good enough to see. Give it wings. Give it darkness. Give it something it can hear. Give it less obsession with what everybody else thinks is here. Maybe the universe gets lucky. Maybe it gets it right this time. Maybe the next mutation just flies into the night. After the next Big Bang Please. Start with a bat. Better ears. Bigger wings. No parliament. No podcast. No guru. No personal brand. No explanation. Just darkness. Sound. Flight. Maybe we'll be luckier next time. Make it stranger. Make it wiser. Anything but this. We were never supposed to be the final version. We were just the first draft. Well. Looks like the prototype is shutting down. Thank God.
