(Kitsunebi - Fox Fire)

V5.5

[End] /// English /// [Intro] Cold rain strikes the shrine's courtyard. Above, an ancient sacred rope groans. A single straw sandal lies abandoned in the mud. The breath of the shakuhachi - Long... Swaying... Almost like a living soul. A tiny bell rings without a breath of wind. [Build-Up] A taiko echoes from beneath the floor. At first, quietly. Then... Another heartbeat answers from deep beneath the earth. Smoke from the stone lantern drifts sideways, crawling along the black wooden pillars. Someone laughs... Just once - Beyond the torii gate. [Main Riff] Crimson cloth tears apart in the storm. Bonfire sparks hammer against rain-soaked armor. A piercing shamisen slices through the taiko. Masks hang from cedar branches, every one of them facing the same direction. Toward the mountains. [Verse 1] Beside the offering box, a lone woman stands. River water drips from the sleeves of her robe. She lays six white fox fangs beside a rusted dagger. No prayer. No bow. Only the sound of rain falling through cracked wood. A barefoot child runs through the shrine - Never even looking inside. [Pre-Chorus] The taiko quickens. Faster. Still faster. The koto stretches tight like tension caught in the back of the throat. Ancient talismans peel away from the wooden beams. Every candle leans toward the same direction. [Chorus] Dance beneath the shower of embers. Hands blackened by pine soot. The bell with its broken rope still refuses to fall silent. Foxfire flows down the mountainside - Drawing nearer. Glowing in the darkness... painted eyes. [Verse 2] A narrow path deep within the forest. Fresh red cords tied around tiny stone statues. Cold rice picked apart by crows. A shattered Noh mask sways from a branch. Footprints surround it. Yet... none lead away. A trembling shamisen beneath the thunder. Taiko drums that sound ready to collapse. [Instrumental Break] [Solo Section] The electric guitar screams into the sky. The shamisen answers immediately - Savage. Frenzied. Unstable. Their melodies collide and collapse together beneath the weight of enormous taiko drums. [Atmospheric Interlude] Everything suddenly feels far away. A quiet koto. Night insects. Wind brushing through bamboo. Somewhere underground, the slow drip of water. One impossibly long shakuhachi note. Then... Silence. [Breakdown] A guitar sinks low. Its weight echoes deep inside the chest. A low chant shifts beneath the riff, breathing like something alive. One by one, the torches fade. Yet only the mountain behind the shrine begins to burn crimson. With a single colossal strike of the taiko, the shakuhachi tears into a beast-like scream. Wood splits. Chains grind through the mud. A forgotten name is spoken aloud. [Final Chorus] Dance while the mountain behind you burns. Smoke swallows the moon. The bell still rings. Again. Again. Again. Human silhouettes circle the fire. Ash clings to rain-soaked skin. Foxfire floods the cedar forest. And then... The masks... Begin to move. [Outro] Only the rain remains. A broken stone lantern floats upon the dark water. The final shakuhachi note slowly fades, slipping slightly out of tune. A single pair of footsteps crosses the bridge. Then... Stops. [End]
