Nothing Hurried

This day rolled in on quiet wheels, Blue above the evergreens, Sunlight pouring through an open roof, Like Universe breathing into me. Thirty-six years beside him, No race to run, no need to win, Just two old souls on a summer road, Smiling at the life we’ve strode. I spent so many years Trying to steer every cloud… Now I finally lift my eyes. I ride with the roof wide open, Let sunlight write my song. Grace is blowing through the cabin, Since it’s known me all along. Minds don’t have to hold tomorrow, Love has taught my heart to see— When I open up to Spirit, spirit opens up as me. Amber afternoon wrapped around, A gentle sleep without a sound. Then tiny weeds around old trees, Earth and root released. No mountain moved, No trumpet played, Only faithful hands inside the day. Funny how the smallest things Can bring the deepest peace. I ride with the roof wide open, Let sunlight write my song. Grace is blowing through the cabin, Since it’s known me all along. Minds don’t have to hold tomorrow, Love has taught my heart to see— When I open up to Spirit, spirit opens up as me. The road… The trees… The warm July breeze… The years behind us… The years ahead… Nothing hurried. Nothing owed. Just Light…
