The Dream

[Verse] I saw a river made of gold It sang my name The sky was upside down The stars played a game A clock with no hands spun around in vain I tried to chase it But I tripped on the rain [Chorus] I had the strangest dream Nothing was as it seemed The colors danced The silence screamed I had the strangest dream Where nothing could stay But I woke up And it all slipped away [Verse 2] A forest of mirrors grew up from the sand Reflections stared back Each held out a hand A bird sang backwards Its tune made me cry Then it flew in circles Painting words in the sky [Chorus] I had the strangest dream Nothing was as it seemed The colors danced The silence screamed I had the strangest dream Where nothing could stay But I woke up And it all slipped away [Bridge] Falling up Climbing down Spinning through the air Everywhere I turned I was already there Time laughed loud It broke into a song And I sang along I sang along [Chorus] I had the strangest dream Nothing was as it seemed The colors danced The silence screamed I had the strangest dream Where nothing could stay But I woke up And it all slipped away
