[Verse 1] Bare toes in the dew I came out to find you The fence line leansLike it knows my name A moth on the gate A fox in the rye And all through the fieldThat low green sigh [Pre-Chorus] I hold my breath The world goes still Something moves Across the hill [Chorus] The grass is whispering ( whispering) It knows where you went (whispering) [Verse 2] Your glove in the mud By the pump house stone A half-bent stemAnd a trail of bone I kneel right down Where the clover bends The field keeps scoreBut it never says when [Pre-Chorus] I call your name Across the rise The wheat just bows And hides its eyes [Chorus] The grass is whispering ( whispering) It knows where you went (whispering) [Bridge] If you can hear me Tap once, then twice I’ll follow that sound Through silver light Past the ditch Past the gate Past the place Where the shadows wait [Final Chorus] The grass is whispering ( whispering) It knows where you went (whispering)
