Steve Tranter’s Sparkling Pearl by GM Jon

Your sunlight shone across the whole wide world you touched so many folks you never met Unique, a dazzling precious golden pearl Your legacy is one we’ll not forget You started, a talented country girl You sparkled more than any other star When you were born, the angels would unfurl A talent bound to travel, so very far And now there’s a hush around the world And the stars and stripes are flying low As we remember that dirt poor country girl From the foothills where the mountain rivers flow You wrote to tell the story of your life Starting from the place where you belonged You showed that we’re blessed to be alive We found your heart and soul in every song With generous gifts, your wealth was shared With so many children, of every creed You showed to us you truly cared Your gave to educate those in need Your earthly apparition may be gone But we don’t really want, to say goodbye For we pray your shooting star will travel on The brightest shower in a distant sky And now there’s a hush around the world And the stars and stripes are flying low As we remember that dirt poor country girl From the foothills where the mountain rivers flow So, Dolly, keep on shining Wherever you may be So we’ll see your spirit shimmering Through the streams of Tennessee You’ll be remembered across the world Our very own country girl a dazzling precious golden pearl
