[Verse 1] You were dead in the trespasses and sins In which you once walked, following this world's way Following the ruler of the power of the air The spirit now at work in those who disobey Among them we all once lived in our desires Carrying out the cravings of flesh and mind By nature children under wrath, like all the rest But mercy came, and love was kind [Chorus] But God, rich in mercy, made us alive With Christ, though dead in our trespasses By grace you have been saved Raised us up with Him Seated us with Him in the heavenly places [Verse 2] So in the ages yet to come He might display The immeasurable riches of His grace In kindness toward us in Christ Jesus A gift received, not earned by human praise By grace you have been saved through faith And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God Not the result of works, so no one may boast For we are His workmanship, made for good works [Chorus] But God, rich in mercy, made us alive With Christ, though dead in our trespasses By grace you have been saved Raised us up with Him Seated us with Him in the heavenly places [Bridge] Remember: once you were far off Now in Christ Jesus, brought near by His blood He is our peace; He made the two one Breaking the dividing wall between us He abolished the hostility in His flesh Making one new humanity from the two Reconciling both to God in one body Through the cross, making peace anew [Verse 3] He came and preached peace to those far away And peace to those who were near Through Him we both have access to the Father By one Spirit; no need to fear You are no longer strangers, no longer guests But fellow citizens with all God’s own Built on the apostles and prophets’ foundation Christ Jesus Himself the cornerstone [Outro] In Him the whole building is joined together Growing into a holy temple in the Lord And in Him you too are being built together A dwelling for God, by the Spirit restored
