“Probably Nothing” [Intro] I had something important to say like ten minutes ago it’ll come back probably [Verse 1] I keep buying bananas and watching them turn brown like I’m surprised every time like this week might be different there’s a glass in the sink that’s been there since Tuesday I washed everything around it which feels deliberate now I don’t know I’ve been getting good at almost almost calling people back almost going somewhere almost having plans I took the batteries out of the smoke detector because it wouldn’t stop chirping and then I forgot where I put them that’s probably a metaphor but I don’t have the energy to find out [Hook] Anyway I’m doing pretty good depending on when you ask depending on what counts depending on whether you already know me I wouldn’t worry about it I wouldn’t worry about me I do enough of that for everybody [Verse 2] I saw somebody yesterday who looked exactly like you except they didn’t you know how that happens wrong walk wrong jacket right amount of distance for my brain to make something up I followed them for half a block not followed-followed we were going the same way I need that on record then they turned around and obviously some guy named Kevin probably just trying to buy detergent sorry Kevin hope everything worked out [Hook] Anyway I’m doing pretty good depending on when you ask depending on what counts depending on whether you already know me I wouldn’t worry about it I wouldn’t worry about me I do enough of that for everybody [Verse 3] My mother says I sound tired I say that’s just my voice now she doesn’t laugh I laugh enough for both of us which makes it worse I’ve been thinking about getting a plant something difficult to kill then I googled “plants difficult to kill” and somehow that felt insulting to both of us so I closed the tab I’ve got forty-seven tabs open one of them is a chair I will never buy one is directions to somewhere I’ve already been one is a question I apparently needed answered three Thursdays ago I don’t remember the question I hope I figured it out [Bridge] Sometimes I think I’m waiting for something not you I don’t think maybe just the part where everything starts feeling like it belongs where I put it keys in the bowl cups in the cupboard Tuesday after Monday me wherever [Verse 4] I found the batteries they were in the junk drawer next to a birthday candle a screwdriver that fits nothing and somebody else’s key I don’t know whose I’ve moved twice and kept it both times which is kind of funny carrying around access to a place I couldn’t find if I wanted to … there it is that’s what I was trying to say [Outro] actually never mind it sounded better ten minutes ago
