[Intro – low female voice, almost whispered] You begged every living thing to weep for Baldr. Stone wept. Iron wept. Trees wept. Then you came to me. And I said... No. [Verse 1 – rapid chopper flow] I am Þökk, the closing breath, Not servant, not goddess— I am Death. Before your first cry split the air, I waited quietly everywhere. King and beggar, wolf and god, All leave footprints across my sod. You call me cruel because I remain, When love starts begging against the pain. But I do not choose who falls or when, I do not sharpen the swords of men. I do not poison, betray, or kill, I stand at the end when the heart goes still. No hatred hidden behind my face, No joy when another one leaves their place. I am the boundary nothing cheats, The final silence every heartbeat meets. [Chorus – deep female lead, low choir] I AM ÞÖKK! I am the word that cannot bend! I AM ÞÖKK! Every road must reach an end! God or giant, beast or king, Nothing born escapes this thing! I AM ÞÖKK! You may curse my name— but death remains! [Verse 2 – faster] Baldr fell bright by mistletoe, Frigg knew sorrow before the blow. Höðr loosed what another had planned, One small branch in an innocent hand. Then Hel spoke law from beneath her hall: “If every being weeps, he may leave us all.” So messengers rode through root and sky, And everything living began to cry. Then they found me alone in stone, Asked for tears that were not my own. “Cry for Baldr. Undo the grave.” As though sorrow could command what fate gave. I answered simply: Let Hel keep hers. No curse. No rage. No spite in the words. Because if death yields whenever hearts break, Then death is a promise the cosmos can fake. [Beat switch – single bell, bass drop] [Verse 3 – rolling double-time] You think refusal made me cold? Listen closely before you're told That mercy means giving back the dead Whenever grief cannot leave the bed. Whose child returns? Whose lover stays? Whose mother rises from burial clay? If Baldr comes home because gods adore, Then what of the nameless million before? What of the farmer beneath the frost? What of the infant a family lost? What of the warrior nobody sings? What of servants buried with kings? Would you call justice a law that bends Only when Ásgarðr mourns its friends? No. If death has meaning, one truth must stand: No favored blood escapes my hand. [Chorus] I AM ÞÖKK! I am the word that cannot bend! I AM ÞÖKK! Every road must reach an end! God or giant, beast or king, Nothing born escapes this thing! I AM ÞÖKK! You may curse my name— but death remains! [Verse 4 – maximum-speed chopper] Óðinn, you traded an eye to see, Hung nine nights from the world-tree. You learned the runes, you hunted fate, You know more roads than gods can name. Still Fenrir waits at the final field, And all your wisdom cannot be shield. Þórr takes nine after serpent's breath, Even thunder cannot outrun death. Surtr burns and Heimdall falls, Loki meets him beneath ruined halls. Týr and Garmr pay blood for blood, Sun goes dark above boiling flood. Ragnarök proves what mortals knew: Even gods are temporary too. You may build Valhöll against the night, But gathering warriors does not cancel my right. I do not conquer. I do not reign. I do not hunger. I feel no pain. You cannot bribe me, flatter, deceive, No hidden door lets the chosen leave. The Norns may measure. Wyrd may weave. But when thread ends— I receive. [Bridge – nearly silent] Do not confuse me with Hel. She gives the dead a home. Do not confuse me with Rán. She takes those claimed by the sea. They have Halls. I need none. I am what fills them. [Final Verse – slow, then accelerating] You fear me because I cannot care Whether a crown or a child stands there. Yet that is exactly why I am fair: No title survives when I enter the air. I make each morning matter because There will be one that never comes. I make the kiss worth giving now. I make the oath demand its vow. I make the feast worth raising high. I make you live because you die. So do not kneel. Do not waste breath. Stand while living. Walk with death. Love while able. Fight when due. Build something worthy to outlast you. Because immortality was never the prize. It is what remains in another one's eyes. Name, deed, story, memory, song— Those are how mortals keep walking on. [Final Chorus – enormous, then abruptly stripped away] I AM ÞÖKK! I am the word that cannot bend! I AM ÞÖKK! Every road must reach an end! God or giant, beast or king, Nothing born escapes this thing! I AM ÞÖKK! WHEN ALL ELSE FALLS— [beat cuts] I remain. [Outro – whispered] Kings die. Gods die. Worlds die. I remain.
