Good Luck, Spaceman
The morning paper says the sky has said goodbye They left the radar burning just to see what they could find I saw a message in the sky in the rocket's smoke A hopeful future isn't anywhere if you force yourself to look There’s a gentleman risking it, at every cost Finding all the hope that the people have lost He hasn’t spoke much, stayed alone for a while He’s been listening to the noise of the trans planetary wire Don’t look down, let your spirit exalt They’ll tell you that the weather was the astronaut’s fault But he’s just sitting in the cockpit of the spacecraft's hull Watching all the strobing green data on the wall And the voices says, "Who’s going to save the modern boys?" When the world is nothing but a dreadful noise He grasped a photo of a girl he loves, it shows Before the rocket took him to the empty space, tears flowed Now he’s strapped into a rocket wearing astronaut shoes Mumbling to himself to keep from catching the blues The children are in awe, they're yearning to fly They have passionate dreams and a look in their eyes The Spaceman is their hero. He feels the weight of his fame But it’s fading away, all the earthly pressures and shame Don’t look down, let your spirit exalt They’ll tell you that the weather was the astronaut’s fault But he’s just sitting in the cockpit of the spacecraft's hull Watching all the strobing green data on the wall And the voices says, "Who’s going to save the modern girls?" From all the nonsense in the world We’re just regular people on a floating pebble Waiting for the sky to turn a different kind of yellow Unaware of the connection they lost on the rock Once again in a position where he cannot talk. Give me your hand, love The air is getting thin Let the voyage begin Let the voyage begin Good luck, space man.
